It was his first travel abroad

Brought by realizations that yet to unfold

Even his father doesn't know his whereabouts

He left the Philippines and go to Spain without any doubts

He secured a passport with the name Jose Mercado

With no hesitations and fear, he waved goodbye in 1882

In Spain, he seeks the best education that he can find

And fulfilling his mission was running through his mind
